How Linkman Works
Linkman reduces the number of cigarettes you smoke over time, slowly weaning you off of nicotine, making the final
break from cigarettes easier to accomplish.
What is Linkman?
Linkman is a small (3/8" x 2 ¼") cylinder-shaped device with a light on one end and an eye-hook on the other end,
so it will attach easily on a keychain or lanyard.
Linkman is made in the USA; fabricated from heavy gauge aluminum and houses a microcomputer chip. Each time you request
permission to smoke (double-clicking the light), Linkman uses that information to determine your "smoking needs" timing.
The pace at which Linkman weans you off cigarettes is up to you and your goals for quitting. You can choose to quit in
one, three or six months.
How to Use Linkman
Every time you want a cigarette, double-click the button on the end. A blinking red light means you have to wait. A solid
green light means you can smoke.
Green = You Can Smoke
Red = You Have To Wait
Linkman Weans You Off Smoking in either 1, 3 or 6 months –
you decide.

How Linkman Will Help You Quit Smoking:
Linkman "gives you the green light" to smoke at progressively longer intervals over time. You'll smoke fewer times each day,
gently weaning yourself off cigarettes. Plus, over time, Linkman will gently break the emotional and behavioral associations
you have with smoking.
You are addicted to smoking (or nicotine gum or lozenges) because you have linked feelings of pleasure to smoking, and feelings
of pain to not smoking. For quitting smoking to be effective and easy, you need to do a good job of breaking those old links to
pleasure and pain and creating new ones instead. The Linkman's unique patented program helps you do just that - unlike any other
system –

Becoming Mindful

Linkman Will Help You Develop New Associations that will help you break your habit. The more you understand about why you smoke—the
physical, emotional and behavioral addictions—the better equipped you are to quit and stay quit. Each time you query (click) the
Linkman for a cigarette you gain an awareness of your smoking habits and are guided to a state of mindfulness.
"Mindfulness" is the single most powerful life changing habit to get into. It gets rid of destructive behavior by getting to
the true and deep rooted cause. Sounds heavy I know but it’s really not. (

about the power of "mindfulness" and quitting smoking). Mindfulness generally means moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness of one's
present moment experience. The goal of learning mindfulness is to be able to be aware of your experience without necessarily labeling it
as good or bad, and to be able to choose your responses rather than reacting out of habit. It will give you the opportunity to relink or
reframe those triggers that make you want to smoke.

Green Light. Red Light (Permission To Smoke OR Not).
Each time you smoke ask yourself why you are smoking. Is it to give your body nicotine? Is it in response to a stressful
situation? Is it out of habit or an association with another behavior?
When you receive the RED LIGHT, give yourself a little bit of positive reinforcement for quitting smoking. Take several deep
breaths, really expand your lungs and feel the cool air coming in and the warm air coming out. Smile to yourself knowing you
are on the path to quitting smoking. Distract yourself, do the dishes, walk the dog, and forget about smoking for as long as you
can. Remember, the typical urge to smoke lasts 90-120 seconds. You're making progress.
By sharing permission to smoke (or chew nicotine gum or lozenges.) with Linkman, you are breaking your association with cigarettes,
nicotine and particular situations and behaviors. Again, this takes place gradually, giving you the time and space to gain comfort
and confidence in your ability to NOT smoke in situations where you always used to smoke.
